"C-can I have a bite?"The young girl stammered,her brown eyes wide and innocent."Please?"She reached up a bit,her hand shaky.It had been days since she had eaten.Dirt smudges were covering her pale skin,her light brown hair tangled.Her small body was beaten and battered.It looked like she had experienced far too much in her young life.

The boy,older by at least a year,looking down at her.He smiled,handing her the rest of his his sandwich."Here."He had only eaten half of it,and he wasn't that hungry anyway.Even if he was,he would have given the rest to the girl.She looked way too skinny for his liking.The boy tried to keep the worry from his face.He had never seen anyone look so helpless,so lost.This girl needed to be taken care of.

Her face lit up.She couldn't thank him enough.A smile curved her lips,bringing something to her eyes that the boy couldn't put his finger on.Without warning,the young girl threw her arms around him in as tight of a hug as her weak arms could manage."Thank you!"Her voice was proof enough how happy she was.A light pink crept across her cheeks,and she released him.Stepping back a few steps,her eyes didn't meet his."S-sorry."She was embarrassed.

He laughed lightly."It's fine,really."He stepped closer to her,and raised his entire arm.Gently,he set it down on her head,using her as an armrest."I didn't mind at all."He saw her face go a bit redder,and he chuckled.
